Blue Door Studio has been offering art classes to students of all ages for the past 10 years. Claudia Venditto (RISD MAT 1995) studio owner and director also has 20 yrs+ teaching experience in the Cranston Public School System. At Blue Door Studio we offer a sequential based art program for students of all levels (ages two to adult). We teach life long art skills that our students develop from the moment they walk through our Blue Door! Our learning environment is positive, enjoyable and educational. We excel at progressing our students’ development as artists. We feel it is important to teach technique and art vocabulary to strengthen our students’ skills as confident artists!

Makers is a {process-based} art studio for kids walking – 5th grade. We offer classes, workshops and camps designed to
encourage creativity & inspire babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school children to use their imagination.

Makers was founded on the belief that creative experiences are highly beneficial for the emotional, intellectual and ​developmental growth of children.
We introduce students to a variety of materials, techniques and tools that promote play, exploration, and encourage confidence.

The playground in Slater Park is a lot of fun for kids of all ages. They have two large spiderweb climbers, a play structure suitable for older children as well as a section for young children/toddlers. There are swings, slides & right outside the gate is a large elephant statue. There is plenty of free parking, and Daggett Farm is practically right next to the playground. Within Daggett Farm there are ride on toys for kids to play with and animals to look at. Be aware that Daggett has very limited shade. Bring sunscreen and know that it gets hot! There is also lots to explore within Slater Park itself.

The Art Museum offers a provocative diversity of creative voices in its historic Newport setting. Visitors can expect treasures from its permanent collection featuring American art from the late 19th century to the present, as well as programmed exhibitions of contemporary art. Dedicated Museum docents are available to offer guided tours of the campus and educate visitors on the architecture, artwork and history of the Museum. Artist Talks, film screenings, lectures and musical performances are scheduled throughout the year.
The Hope Street Farmers Market is a farmer-run cooperative created and managed by many of the best farmers and food artisans in Rhode Island. We sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, cheese, breads and pastries, pasture-raised meats, seafood, poultry and eggs, and many other items that we grow, make or raise ourselves. Come join us every Saturday morning from 9 to 1:00 and Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 to 6:00.
