Coffee Break with Supermom Christy Fitzsimmons

0
At PMB we love Dunkin’ and we are so grateful that through our partnership with them we are able to recognize local moms.

Do you know a supermom? At Providence Moms Blog, we believe in celebrating ALL moms: worn out moms, stressed out moms, tired moms, and moms who need a break. THESE are supermoms. THESE are good moms. THESE are moms who deserve celebrating and who deserve a break.

Today we bring you Supermom Christy Fitzsimmons, who was nominated by her friend Ashley Walsh. We loved this nomination because who doesn’t need a friend who can help you learn to be a “go with the flow, have fun, and enjoy it all kind of mom”? No doubt this gig is hard, but having people in our lives who emanate positivity (and when I met Christy it was clear she did!) helps so much! Thank you to Ashley for the nomination and Christy for being the kind of mom friend we all love!

How do you know Christy?

I originally knew Christy because I was friends with her sister in high school. However, we bumped into each other at Babies R Us after our boys were born just days apart in September of 2013. We’ve been great friends since then!

Tell us about Christy’s family?

Christy is a hard-working stay at home mother of four boys, two sets of twins, ages 10 and five.

Tell us why Christy deserves a coffee break?

I have learned more from watching her over the last five years balance, juggle, prepare, clean, organize, shop, and most importantly teach me, a then brand new mother of a preemie, now mother of 3 of my own, how to be a go with the flow have fun and enjoy it all kind of mom. She is the epitome of a supermom and then some. She is always helping everyone in her neighborhood, watching children constantly so other mothers can go and do what they need to do and make a life for themselves. I am so proud to be her friend and if anyone deserves a coffee then she deserves two!

Tracy Slater
Tracy was born and raised in Southeastern Massachusetts and currently resides about 15 minutes outside of Providence with her husband and their three children, Max (2012), Ryder (2014), and Lily (2017). As a mother, she has dabbled in various parenting philosophies, and after attempting everything from free range to helicopter, she's landed squarely in the camp of "I'll do whatever it takes to make the noise stop." In all seriousness, Tracy believes that the key to happily surviving parenthood is grace. Whenever possible it should be given generously to our children, our spouses, and especially ourselves. Tracy has spent her career working with mothers and children in various capacities. She has a private therapy practice, is an Infant Massage Instructor, and works in Early Intervention. She has learned that one of things that children need most is well supported parents, and she believes that the candid sharing of stories and experiences is an important way of supporting parents. When she's not at work, Tracy spends her days trying to get outside, writing, and searching for her patience at the bottom of a (reheated) cup of coffee. She is an avid runner, and she loves to cook, obsessively organize, and drink wine.
