Waffles with Santa; An Event Recap

1

“I heard that Santa was here, is that true?” a sweet little one asked me as his family walked up to the registration table.  “He’s here! And he heard that you were coming too! He’s been waiting for you all morning!” I replied. What started as worry in his eyes that perhaps Santa wasn’t actually in the building, or that he had missed him somehow, transformed into joy and excitement.

There’s something about kids and Christmas that I just can’t quite get over, and the holiday Spirit was palpable in the kids who filled the room at Hope Events on Main in the Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket, RI, where Providence Moms Blog hosted Waffles with Santa; A Family Event for the first time this year.

It was an undertaking, that’s for sure. The PMB team was on the phone until late Friday night juggling last-minute preparations and nerves (did we *almost* forget a place for Santa to sit? We’ll never tell), and up bright and early on Saturday morning to get everything set up. Whole Foods Market provided fruit and beverages for our guests, and their extreme generosity was apparent as we transported cases of apples, oranges, and waters to the second floor of the Hope Artiste Village. But all the planning, preparing & anticipation was so very worth it.

The kids made gift boxes and decorated stockings and snowmen. Parents learned a bit more about College Bound Saver, The Advanced Baby Imaging Lab, and The Children’s Workshop, some of our favorite local businesses.

KM Photography provided a stunning holiday-themed backdrop for family photos, and Three Pumpkins Photography was on hand to provide photos with Santa. Guests ate the-most-delicious waffles in the world from The Burgundians. Santa danced, and children giggled. And in true Christmas-Miracle fashion, there wasn’t a line all day, despite over 200 people filling the room!
