RI pregnancy resources

Whether it’s your first or your fourth, motherhood is a challenging adventure, but it doesn’t have to be a lonely one. Building your village starts here, with fellow mothers who have been in your shoes and can provide the best advice, point you to excellent pregnancy and postpartum resources, or maybe even just offer a supportive ear.

We wish we could share these wonderful resources with you in person, but for now we need to keep our distance. We think that makes Bloom more important than ever this year, because even when we have to stay apart, we never need to be alone.

In addition to our wonderful partners and sponsors you’ll see here, be sure to scroll all the way through, as you’ll also find helpful articles related to pregnancy, post partum, and all things baby, as well as comprehensive listings of helpful RI pregnancy and postpartum resources and services!

Have you ever wondered how your child’s brain grows as we learn and play? At the ABI lab, we are working hard to find out!

Throughout childhood, our brain undergoes some pretty amazing changes. As we learn to walk, talk, sing, learn the alphabet and even tie our shoes, our brain is changing – becoming bigger, faster and stronger. How does this happen? Amazingly, we aren’t quite sure, but we are working hard to understand this. At the Advanced Baby Imaging Lab, we want to work with you to discover how your child’s brain grows and changes as they learn new things! We also want to understand how nutrition, sleep, our genes, and other influences shape this development.

Currently, we are studying babies and children from the prenatal stage to 12 years of age. There is a possibility for pregnant mothers to have a set of 3D ultrasounds and could possibly receive free formula in our Infant Nutrition Study!

If you have any questions or would like to participate you can call us at 401-338-6943, click on the buttons below or check out our website at www.babyimaginglab.com to learn more about our studies!

There are Family Visitors from the Healthy Families America Program all over RI!  We are here to support pregnant women and new parents so that you can be there for your children–No one needs to feel alone.
Here’s what you need to know about the HFA Program:
  • It’s free and voluntary–We can stay with you for as long as you’d like, up until your baby turns four years old.
  • The program can begin during pregnancy to help you prepare for your new arrival.
  • The program can begin up to three months after your baby’s birth. (A similar program called “Parents as Teachers” can begin later than three months.)
  • The personal support we provide encourages family bonding and attachment.

We work to reduce parenting stress by:

  • Getting together once a week
  • Listening carefully to your needs and connecting you with necessities and other community supports
  • Helping you find the information you need
  • Cheering you on

Our curriculum, which was written collaboratively by doctors, teachers, parents and counselors, overflows with:

  • Ways to get to know, understand and communicate with your baby
  • Ways to have fun with your baby that help him/her reach those milestones
  • Information on what to expect at different stages
  • Ways to trouble-shoot common parenting challenges
  • Ways to grow a healthy child that is excited about learning and success in school

The program helps you remember your own goals and dreams, too!  We help you find ways to fit those into your life as a parent.

You can refer yourself to Healthy Families America or ask for a referral from your OBGYN or your regular doctor.
