Guide to Pregnancy/Postpartum Resources in Rhode Island & Southeastern Massachusetts

This Guide to Pregnancy and Postpartum Resources is a sponsored guide, presented by our valued local partners. While we love sharing these resources with our readers, we have not personally vetted each individual business represented here and encourage our readers to do their own research to find the best fit for their family.

Pregnancy. Postpartum.

Be it your first time around or your fifth, there are few other times in a person’s life more rife with questions, worries, hopes, exhilaration, and anxiety than pregnancy and new parenthood. And did we mention the questions? Which provider is the best choice to support me through my pregnancy? What will the birth be like? WHERE should I give birth? Who should my child’s doctor be? Will my baby be okay? Will I be okay? And where can I find those ADORABLE onsies I saw at my friends baby shower?

We know. It’s a lot.

So we have done our best to compile a guide that will help you answer all the questions you have — along with a few you might not have even thought of! From midwives to meal prep, from breastfeeding to babywearing, with a bit of everything in between, we hope this guide will answer some of your questions, ease some of your anxieties, and make your journey through parenthood just a little bit easier.

Congratulations, and enjoy the ride. ❤

Advanced Baby Imaging Lab

Rhode Island Pregnancy Postpartum Providence

Have you ever wondered how your child’s brain grows as we learn and play? At the ABI lab, we are working hard to find out!

Throughout childhood, our brain undergoes some pretty amazing changes. As we learn to walk, talk, sing, learn the alphabet and even tie our shoes, our brain is changing – becoming bigger, faster and stronger. How does this happen? Amazingly, we aren’t quite sure, but we are working hard to understand this. At the Advanced Baby Imaging Lab, we want to work with you to discover how your child’s brain grows and changes as they learn new things! We also want to understand how nutrition, sleep, our genes, and other influences shape this development.

Currently, we are studying babies and children from the prenatal stage to 12 years of age. There is a possibility for pregnant mothers to have a set of 3D ultrasounds and could possibly receive free formula in our Infant Nutrition Study!

If you have any questions or would like to participate you can call us at 401-338-6943, click on the buttons above or check out our website at to learn more about our studies!

According to Dona International, a doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

For many families, having a doula makes the birth and postpartum period infinitely more manageable. Starting or adding to your family is incredibly beautiful, but also one of the most stressful life experiences. Consider a doula to assist with much-needed support.
